Placing Orders
Ordering from Viola-Strings.com is pretty easy, cut and dry. We are always 100% in stock and most orders are shipped within 24hrs. On some less often ordered gut strings, we purposely keep a low stock on these in order for insuring a fresh string to our customers. Buying old gut strings...is not a good idea as they prematurely break or wear out too fast.
If you have problems deciding what to get or need help, call us at 800-600-2689. We are never too busy to help you.
For the Free Shipping, it is always with the US Post Office, First Class Mail. Also, our shipments are trackable and insured. (This sets us apart from a lot of other violin/viola dealers that ship mail order.)
One note about common mistakes on our shopping cart. Sometimes, the shopping cart will tell you "delivery not available at your location" or something like that. Always check the top of the shopping cart page (where you fill in your address, your phone etc...) at the top of the page is where by default the shipping is USPS First Class Mail. If you are outside of the USA, you must change that to First Class Mail International. That's all it usually is and again, if you need help with it we can always take your order by phone pretty quickly and easily for you.
Returns: We sell all brand new, fresh strings. While it is extremely rare, occasionally a new string can be defective: Maybe it breaks just after a couple of days or you notice some kind of imperfection in the string once it is on your viola. A kink, a fault in the even flow of the winding. These you can return to us for a quick replacement as long as long as you contact us first by email or phone. We do not return strings that have broken right at the nut or scroll area as this always points to a pinched groove or slit in the nut. (A word of caution: If you are changing the usual gauge of strings or type, inspect the nut first. Make sure that if your new string is wider that you accommodate the nut groove to fit that new string. A tight nut there will quickly break that string. Also, always, always take just a regular sharpened pencil and rub the tip of graphite into that slit as well as you can. This a great lubricant so that you new strings will slide to and from. Also, a little dab of pencil into the bridge groove won't hurt there either.
If you string breaks within the first week, we'll take it back and send you new one. If after that first week, you can also send your string directly to the manufacturer that made it and also will want to see how and where it broke. This helps them and you usually just get a new string from them as well.
