Pirastro Evah
Pirazzi Viola Strings
If you go to any professional symphony concert and look into the
viola section you'll see many of these players using Evah
Pirazzi Viola Strings. If you are trying to find a new,
balanced, responsive set of strings for your viola, you cannot go
wrong with the Evah Pirazzis. They are easy playing.
Meaning, they respond extremely well under the bow and while they
have a nice, easy 'gut' like feel and response, they have way more
power as well. With the higher cost of viola strings, it can
be a little nerve wracking choosing the right strings.
Now one of the most popular viola strings, Evah Pirazzi
Gold. These, like the 'Greens' are all synthetic
strings, except the A string which automatically comes with either a
steel A or aluminum synthetic A . How are they different
than the 'green' labeled ones? Players are already telling us
that they give a slightly broader spectrum of overtones and more
brilliant response, yet warmer. We find that our professional
viola players just like a straight set, without replacing another
brand A string.
New additions to the Evah Pirazzi Gold
Pirastro just recently introduced new 'rope core' chrome choices
for their EP Golds: rope core D,G and C.
What these do? The new rope cores are more
'direct', slightly more tension and slightly brighter. They have
a quicker, more direct response than the 'synthetic' Golds do.
Why choose the Rope core over the synthetic silvers? Maybe
your viola tends to sound a little too 'dark', the rope cores will
bring out the tone (brighten) and will sound a little 'bigger', punchy
response. Also, if you like the regular Evah Pirazzi Gold, but
maybe one of your viola strings sounds weaker, or less responsive than
the rest of the set, you might want to replace that standard
silver/synthetic one with one of the new, rope core strings.
