Obligato Viola
Strings
Pirastro's Obligato viola strings are made with a synthetic
core which feel and play like the old (tried and true) gut strings,
but last much longer and without the hassles of gut: Obligatos have
a tremendously rich and warm sound, but will change due to weather
conditions. After the first day or two, they stretch out and
play in and then keep their pitch much like a metal string will.
Again, the Obligato strings come with a tungsten wrapped (synthetic)
core. The G and D strings are silver wrapped while the A is a
steel core, with aluminum wrapping.
We know that many viola players actually prefer Larsen's famous A
string on most sets, so we included it in our selection below.
