Helicore Viola Strings

Here we offer D'Addario's Helicore brand viola strings.  They are still strings, but have a good following in the viola community.  They are probably the most affordable strings available, yet they perform well.  These come in medium, light and heavy gauge, as well as differing lengths.

About Helicore Sizing:

A clarification about Helicore string lengths:  Helicore viola strings come in 4 lengths and various gauges. Below, we give their dimensions and sizing so that you can better know, which size you need.

How long is your back?  To measure the back, simply measure straight down the middle seam from the top edge (right next to the neck) to the bottom of the back edge.  Also, you can measure the vibrating string length which is the nut (near the scroll) all the way down the string to the tip of the bridge. 

• Short Scale is for viola back lengths of 13-14", with the vibrating string length of 13"
• Medium Scale is for a back 15-15 3/4" with string length 14 1/8"
• Long Scale is for a back 16-16 1/2", with string length of 15"
• Extra Long is for a back 17" with string length, 15 3/4"

While Helicores come in various lengths, only the Long Scale lengths (for 16-16 1/2" backs) offer 3 gauges: medium, light or heavy.  All the other lengths only come in medium gauge.
