Warchal Brilliant Viola Strings

Warchal Viola Brilliant  strings are quickly rising towards the top as a premier string. The most popular of the Warchal Viola strings are Brilliant Vintage brand. They are made with a new synthetic core much like the Evah Pirazzi strings are. They are worth a try and definitely more affordable.

Warchal calls the element used in their strings, not aluminum, but "hydronalium". Sounds cool, but it is a kind of aluminum. The standard A string (in the set) will be this hydronalium (aluminum) which matches the whole balanced set nicely. Warchal offers a steel A to give the player the option of a longer lasting A string. 

Most players like buying an extra Aluminum A ("hydronalium") strings at the same time they buy their new Brilliant Vintage sets. This way, midway through the "life" of the set, they can then add on the new A hydronalium and play that through the end of the whole set. BTW, this is not really a weakness with the Warchals. Lots of players play their A strings out first, before the rest of the set is worn out. In this case, most will agree that the hydronalium A will have a sweeter tone.

Notes on size and ordering: Warchal has two sizes, Small and Large which they size by the vibrating string length and not the length of the back.  The vibrating string length is the string distance between the nut and the tip of the bridge. 

Small is for a vibrating string length of 36-38cm, or 14-15". 

Large is for a vibrating string length of 38-40cm, or 15-15.3"

To be certain that you get the correct size, please take a quick moment to measure your string length.  (Most violas use the "Small" size, but again, it is not the length of the back, but vibrating string length.
