The new rope cores are more ‘direct’, slightly more tension and slightly brighter. They have a quicker, more direct response than the ‘synthetic’ Golds do. Why choose the Rope core over the synthetic silvers? Maybe your viola tends to sound a little too ‘dark’, the rope cores will bring out the tone (brighten) and will sound a little ‘bigger’, punchy response. Also, if you like the regular Evah Pirazzi Gold, but maybe one of your viola strings sounds weaker, or less responsive than the rest of the set, you might want to replace that standard silver/synthetic one with one of the new, rope core strings.
